Jewellery Materials Guide
At Astor & Eden, we carefully select jewellery that combines timeless style with quality materials. Here's a little more about the materials used throughout our collections.
18K Gold Plated Jewellery
Our 18K gold plated jewellery features a layer of genuine 18K gold applied to a durable base metal, most commonly stainless steel.
Gold plating offers the elegant appearance of solid gold at a more accessible price, making it perfect for everyday wear and special occasions alike.
With the right care, gold plated jewellery can retain its beautiful finish for years. To help preserve its shine, we recommend avoiding prolonged contact with perfumes, lotions, household chemicals and chlorinated water.
Stainless Steel
Many of our jewellery pieces are crafted from high-quality stainless steel, chosen for its strength, durability and resistance to tarnishing and rust.
Stainless steel is naturally water resistant, making it an excellent choice for everyday jewellery. However, we still recommend removing jewellery before swimming, showering or using cleaning products to help maintain its finish for as long as possible.
925 Sterling Silver
Sterling Silver is a timeless precious metal made from 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metals, usually copper, to provide additional strength and durability.
Sterling Silver has a beautiful natural lustre and, with proper care, can last a lifetime. As silver naturally tarnishes over time, storing your jewellery in a dry jewellery box or pouch when not in use will help keep it looking its best.
Caring for Your Jewellery
A little care goes a long way.
To help your jewellery stay beautiful for years to come, we recommend:
Removing jewellery before swimming or bathing.
Avoiding contact with perfumes, lotions and household chemicals.
Storing pieces separately in a jewellery box or soft pouch.
Wiping jewellery occasionally with a soft polishing cloth to maintain its shine.
With thoughtful care, your Astor & Eden jewellery will remain a treasured part of your collection for years to come.
